'Cine Y Moda'

The exhibition was held at CaixaForum in Madrid. It was overlooked by Jean Paul Gaultier, as he has been involved with the costume design in many of Almodovar's films and many of his designs were featured. He actually went to see the exhibition on the opening day and I missed it by one day!

It is a curated showcase that explores the intersection between the worlds of cinema and fashion. It examines the mutual influence and creative dialogue that exists between these two art forms, highlighting the ways in which fashion has been shaped and inspired by the silver screen.

The exhibition presents a diverse range of materials and displays, including costumes, sketches, photographs, film clips, and multimedia installations. These elements come together to provide an immersive experience that celebrates the visual storytelling power of both cinema and fashion.

"Cine Y Moda" delves into the historical connections between fashion designers and the film industry, showcasing collaborations and iconic moments where fashion played a crucial role in defining characters and setting the tone of movies. The exhibition features notable designers who have left their mark on cinema, such as Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Yves Saint Laurent, among others. It examines how cinema has influenced fashion trends and popular culture throughout different periods. It showcases how specific films have become a source of inspiration for designers, leading to the emergence of new fashion movements and styles.

Even though the exhibition took place last year, I still wanted to include it here as it is a source of inspiration throughout my project, since my idea for it was born from wanting to include cinema and a cinematic approach to my concept.
